With the resounding success of the Deccan odyssey, the view that India's heritage can be best explored by travelling in a train got yet another boost. No wonder then, the Deccan odyssey took a new avatar and became all set to fascinate more and more visitors from across the globe. The makers of this luxury train that is compared to the best in the world like Blue Train of South Africa, the Orient Express of Europe and the Eastern and Oriental of South East Asia, chalked out a new route for this luxury train. So now, the train takes on a journey to newer destinations in the northern and eastern part of India.
Luxury and comfort of passengers remain the top most priority of the makers and the staff who leave no stone to give you that royal feeling of the erstwhile Maharajas. The elegantly decorated interiors, the restaurants, bar, gym, spa and lounge are all testimony to this. The attendant or khidmatgar is forever there to serve you. And the food, prepared by master chefs (from Taj Hotels) of the train, is just astounding!
The train has twenty one coaches out of which eleven of them are for travellers. Nine of these eleven
coaches have four luxurious coupes while two other are the Presidential coaches with two coupes each. The coupes are laced with luxuries like wall to wall carpeting, channel music, CD and MP3 players, attached toilets, intercom, shower, running hot and cold water taps and other amenities.
The train serve Indian, Goan, Chinese, Maharashtrian, Rasajthani and Continental cuisine together with top quality liquor. For health and beauty conscious travellers there is a gym and a beauty parlour as well. For business, there is also a conference room.
